Coming up is the USA's 238th anniversary, marking the day that the Declaration of Independence was signed by the 52 men of the Continental Congress. On Fourth of July most people get a day off work to celebrate. So take this opportunity to hang out with your family and try a few of these activities to liven up your day.
Make patriotic cupcakes. Pick up a box of cupcake mix (or make your own) and follow the instructions to make a batch of cupcakes. Once they are cooked, get some toppings and go to town. Try using food coloring to dye white frosting either red or blue. Use sprinkles generously and be creative with your fruit! Freedom will taste even sweeter!

Learn a patriotic song. Go online and search for some songs about America. Some great ones are "America the Beautiful," "My Country Tis of Thee," and our national anthem, "the Star-Spangled Banner."
Have a picnic. Dig out some large blankets or towels and eat outside with your family. Some yummy picnic foods are sandwiches, watermelon, potato salad, and lemonade. Bring a frisbee or soccer ball to play with after your done eating. Don't forget to bring the dog!
Play with sparklers. Get some sparklers at your grocery store and with parental supervision and guidance, use them after the sun goes down. Make sure to keep a bucket of water nearby to extinguish the hot tips after the sparklers are burned out.
Hope you have a happy Fourth of July!
