So.... You have earned lots of skill patches, but what are you going to do with them all?
Here are some unique ways to personalize your belongings to show the world your DIY spirit!
1. Sew them onto your backpack. I would recommend doing this on the fabric portion of the bag, because the straps of most backpacks are rather thick, so sewing them on your straps would be difficult, and probably better for a more skilled sewer.
2. Attach several of them on to a shirt. DIY maker Forte had this idea. He states "I'm going to put my real life patches.... On the shirt!" The shirt can also be personalized further, for example, choosing a shirt in the color of your profile background, and adding a DIY.org décor.
3. Sew/iron on your patches on to your Girl Scout/Boy Scout sash/vest. It would be nessecary to ask your troop leader before hand, but it would be a nice way to jazz up your uniform in an appropriate way.
4. Pin on a bulletin board, along with various photos. It expresses your character, and adds a sense of playfulness to it. This can also be done by placing patches into picture frames.
5. Replicate the skill map. Like the famous maker Ogel plans to. It takes many patches to replicate the real skill map, but with enough time, precision, and money (mostly money), it is possible. My preferred method is taking badges of the same color and area (artist, hacker, gardener, etc), and gluing them onto a piece of solid poster board (not the cheap wobbly kind), but there are other approaches you may take. Be creative!
If you have patches from the DIY market, what are you waiting for?! Get crafting!
Yours always,
Evil Ladybug
